| | Globular Cluster | M22 | Messier 22 | NGC 6656 | | M22 is one of the brightest globulars, and only M4 is closer to Earth. It is about 100 light years in size, and contains over 83,000 stars as bright as 11th magnitude. There are at least 2 black holes at its core. M22 is one of only 4 globulars to have a planetary nebula. GJJC1 or IRAS 18333-2357 is 3' diameter but only 1' south of the core, and is very difficult to spot. Its density class is VII. | | |
